The Bolshoi Puppet Theater

The puppet theater is the oldest in Russia - it was founded in 1931. Since 2006 it is headed by the famous director Ruslan Kudashov. During 10 years of working in the theatre Kudashov organized a new troupe consisting of graduates of his acting course, created more than 25 performances for adults and children. The repertoire is actively replenished with a variety of productions: from "Kolobok" to the Old Testament trilogy to a teenage tragic manifesto in the spirit of punk rock.

St. Petersburg Marionette Theater named after E. S. Demmeni

The first professional puppet theater in Russia was organized as the Petrograd State Puppet Theater in 1918 by a group of Petrograd artists headed by L. Shaporina-Yakovleva. In the repertoire of the theater there are performances based on works of Russian and foreign authors, different in styles and genres. Almost all known types of dolls are used in performances: puppets, parsley, dolls on canes and others.
