Victor Aksenov graduated from Tomsk State University in 1970, Doctor of Sciences in Physics and Mathematics (1985), Professor (1994), Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2011). He was the Director of Peterburg Nuclear Physics Institute of NRC "Kurchatov Institute" from 2012 to 2015 and the science director of PNPI NRC KI from 2015 to 2017. Since 2017 he has been an Assistant to the President of NRC “Kurchatov Institute”.
Victor Aksenov proposed and developed models in the theory of structural phase transitions, superconductivity, cluster kinetics in solutions. A new research area aimed for long-pulse sources — time-of-flight neutron Fourier diffractometry — was created under his supervision and with his direct involvement.
A precision research method for studying magnetic layered nanostructures — method of resonance enhancement of neutron wave field — was proposed and developed with his direct involvement as well. Among his other achievements are the development of methods of neutron nanodiagnostics of biocompatible colloid systems and creation of a methodological base for their use in nanobiotechnologies. He is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, 1 monograph and 1 patent. Victor Aksenov is a head of the time-of-flight neutronography scientific school. Prof. Aksenov is the founder and head of the Department of Neutronography of Lomonosov Moscow State University and a vice-chairman of its Dissertation Committee. He is a member of editorial boards of scientific journals, as well as a member of national and international scientific councils. Victor Aksenov is a laureate of many state and international prizes and awards.
